Who

This site is run by Ali Amrani in Belgium. Questions about your data: ali@aliamrani.com.

What is logged

When you open a page, my server notes your IP address, the time, the page, the website that sent you and your browser’s user agent (browser and device type). From the IP address it looks up an approximate place (city or region) and your internet provider, using offline databases on the same server. When a new visit starts, I get a short notification on my phone with that approximate place, the pages and the device type, never your IP address.

Why

To see how many people visit and roughly where they come from, and to spot bots and abuse. This is my legitimate interest in running and protecting the site (GDPR, Article 6(1)(f)).

How long

IP addresses and these visit logs are deleted automatically after 30 days. The web server’s own access logs, which also contain IP addresses, are kept for 14 days.

Statistics

I also count visits with Umami, which runs on my own server. It uses no cookies and does not store your IP address: it records the pages you see, what you click on the site, your country, region and city, and your browser and device type.

Who sees it

Only me. Nothing is sold or shared, and there are no advertising or third-party trackers. The site is hosted by OVHcloud in France, which stores the data on my behalf.

Loaded from elsewhere

Fonts and everything else on the pages are served from this site itself. Camera mode on some projects only runs after you press its button: your camera image is processed in your own browser and never sent anywhere, and the files it needs are downloaded from jsDelivr and Google.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies. It only remembers your language choice in your own browser.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the data about you, or object to it, by emailing me. You can also complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be).
